Approved leave from studies
If you wish to take a break in your studies you can apply for an
approved leave from studies. You must have specific reasons to be
able to get an approved leave from studies granted. Therefore, it
is important that you specify your reasons when applying.
Once granted an approved leave from studies you are guaranteed a
place to your study programme for a specified term if you sign up
for the resumption of studies in due time.

Non-completion of studies
If you want to interrupt your studies you can notify
non-completion of studies. By notifying non-completion of studies
you lose your place at your study programme. After that, you are no
longer guaranteed a place if you wish to resume your studies at a
later time. By notifying non-completion of studies you may however
give another person the possibility to be offered a place at the
programme.
The form - Notification for non-completion of
studies
If you follow one of our summer courses and want to interrupt your
studies within 3 weeks after the start of the course you do this on
the student web by signing in with your Umu-id. Read more on how to do an "early"
interruption of a course. If more than 3 weeks have
passed after starting the course and you decide to interrupt your
studies you shall instead use the form notification for
non-completion of studies.
Since we usually have a large number of applicants to the summer
courses offered each year we rather see, have you been
admitted to one of them, that you decline your place before the
start of the course would you choose not to participate. That way
we have a chance to offer your place to someone on the waiting list
hoping to get a place.
